Long Range Competition, Texas

There will be a Long Range Competition on September 29, 2007.
The distances are: 300, 600, 800 and 1000 meters.
No target pulling or pitwork - they have got electronic targets.
You will find more about it on their website:
http://www.spindlerarms.com

sounds and looks like a nice place to shoot. But one question, If one was to win or place does he get a portion of the pot or are we donating the $99 just to shoot in competion.

Prizes Long Range Competition spindlerarms:
On their website - Photo Gallery - Events & Competitions as well as on their Competition Entry Form under the link Events & Competitions they say:
Trophies, Prizes & Certificates
1. prize $30.00, 2nd prize $20.00 and 3rd prize $10.00 for overall winner of competition
I think, the $99.00 is a very reasonable fee for shooting on electronic targets, so one doesn't have to do any pit work and one can focus just on shooting.

let me make sure i have this right. You want to charge 100$ and pay out 60 dollars. We can shoot at Ft Wolters and some of us like to score to see what the comp. is doing. We can shoot at TAC PRO in the LSSO for 50 to 75 bucks and get a nice action or bbl. If you have 50 people show up to shoot that is 5000 grand you wat to pay out 60 . Just for giggles and laughs lets say you get lucky 10 show up you draw in 1000 pay 60 atleast make it wort the drive if you can i know that there is 5 or 6 of us that would shoot a mounthly match there

Looks like a nice range but for an unsanctioned event,IBS or NBRSA I know electronic targets) this is a little high. Want everyone to make some money but potential payout is a little on the light side for me to make the trip. I am driving to Missouri for the State Championships where the fee is half that and the payouts are a lot better and I can win WOOD!

Might rethink the payout structure and give it another try---for me I would spend over $80.00 in just diesel.

Is there any 1,000 yard bench rest near Houston or even within a couple hour drive? Anyone ever think of starting a bench rest club near Houston and setting up sanctioned events. You can follow Williamsport or IBS rules. It's extremely popular everywhere a club is started. The original 1,000 yard club in Pennsylvania gets 120 shooters and they have sister clubs all over the country now.

Unfortunately, nope. I sure wish there was also, though!!

Bayou rifles has a 1k range, but they only shoot prone matches and have no benches.

I agree that a 600 & 1000 yard BR club would do well here.

It would definitely do well. They always become very popular everywhere a club is started. We need to get pro-active and make this happen. Who is in charge of the Juliff range? I'm sure they wouldn't mind at least sitting down and talking this over. It would bring in a lot of money to the club. We could get a petition going and see what the interest level would be. What do you think?

A shooter in Houston is doing the leg work to start a range.
Go to Benchrestcentral.com forums then go to 1000 yd. forum. See post there. Let him know whos interested and if you are willing to help. It's going to take your money and time to do something like this. Theres got to be enough people within 3 hours of Houston to make this work.

Before spending the money I would very seriously look into making it an IBS or even a NBRSA sanctioned range. I will drive down to shoot but only for the chance to win points!!

The closest IBS range is in Missouri---would love to have other options as well.:)
