Long neck Chamber

Hi, I want to make some sort of 7 brx, but i don´t want to buy a new reamer, nor modifying my 7 br reamer, do you think elongating the chamber about .100",consequently giving me a .100" longer chamber neck than the 7 brx case, would do good?, i use 162gr. A-max to a loaded lenght of 2.595", so the longer way to the lands would be no problem.

Thanks

Vlad

I don't have a drawing in front of me,nightshift), but I wonder about the designed body taper and growth in clearance near the case head by going deeper.
Too much clearance back there isn't good for brass life.
Also you would have excessive chamber end distance from the mouths. This could show up as bad sooting, lack of a good seal/grip, and case growth.

But there may be people doing it without a bunch of issues. Hopefully..

Vlad, are you talking about running the 7 BR reamer in .100 deeper? You could probably do that, but you would wind up with the overall chamber length .100" longer or so than what your brass length would be. If you ran the 7 BR reamer in .100" deeper, then you'd probably be better off using a different parent case other than the 7 BR for the cartridge such as a 6.5x47 Lapua case. That way you wouldn't have a large gap between the end of the case neck and the end of the chamber neck and you could trim the length of the case to fit the length of your chamber. Maybe I'm misunderstanding your question as I'm a little unclear as to exactly what you are wanting to do. A 7 BRX reamer that would have the shoulder moved forward .100" would also have the neck length shortened .100" to allow the 7 BR brass to fill the chamber from base to the end of the neck.
