long neck 308

I recently had a remington action rebarreled to 308. I just measured the chamber with a stoney point oal gauge over and over and get 3.04 inches using a 175 smk.Thats what..over .200
longer than a factory round. I was told the reamer was for 175 grain bullets, doesn't that sound long? the remington barrel touched at 2.93 inches and I thought that was terrible.

Yep, that sounds awfully long. I'm wondering if you will able to hold a BT bullet in the case at that length. Have you tried seating a bullet at that length? Use the old method - seat a bullet long, chamber the round so the lands will complete seating the bullet and then measure. Maybe your Stoney Point measurements are wrong or maybe you need to call the gunsmith. Good Luck

Thanks for that suggestion. I took a lapua case that had been resized and it measures 2.847. I did it several times. The case I was using on the stoney point was not sized. All is well. thanks again Ray
