Lones Wigger has left the range

Sorry to hear of this. I just finished reading an article about him, I think in the NRA magazine. His presence will never wane due to his contribution to the sport.

I met Lones Wigger in 1975, when I was 16 years old, during the Western Wildcat match in Phoenix, Arizona. That was my first smallbore match. During a stage where we could use a scope, my sighter target looked like I had shot it with a shotgun, and I could not get a group, and I was getting frustrated. Lones Wigger came over to my firing point, and his first thought was my scope was not tightened, and he was correct. He tightened my scope and stayed with me, for the remainder of that stage, giving me encouragement. In the years afterwards, I would read about him in the American Rifleman, and always remembered him for being so gracious in assisting me.

The next and last time that I saw Lones Wigger was after a long absence of shooting in matches (Thanks to the USMC). In 2003 I was shooting the same match, The Western Wilcat, and he was there. I introduced myself to him, and reminded him and thanked him for what he had done for me 28 years earlier.

I met Lones at the NRA convention in Houston, Tx a few years ago. We had a really nice visit about a lot of things. We do think the same politically.
He will be sorely missed.
