Lodi Memorial weekend 2023 Pair fire

We’re kicking around the idea of changing the Memorial weekend match to a course consisting of 3 or possibly 4 pair fire matches Saturday and Sunday all fired at 1000.
Who would be interested in this?

I would just run Palma matches or normal Long range 3x1k each day if you are planning to go away from the triple crown format.

A question from the uneducated, is the purpose of pair firing to speed up the match ?

Fewer relay changes?

Whatever you decide, I'm sure those that can will show up.

More challenging yes. I’m not sure about more fun yet. I’ve only done it once, and struggled.
Take it as you need to be a better wind reader and challenge yourself. It is fun and rewarding.
There are times you just have to trust your gut and let ‘er rip. More times than not, you will make the right decision.

I still hope to make it up to Colorado for pair fire matches.

Depends on the course of fire. If you are talking 10 or 15 shots per person that is more reasonable than a 20 shot string per person per firing. Personally, I think 10 shots per person plus sighters is about the max you would want to put into a pair of fire string.
Much longer than that and you are becoming very fatigued as a shooter, the fun level definitely starts to taper after about 10 shots per Shooter pair firing.

I would disagree. I am shooting matches and hosting matches that are 20 shot pair fire. Math wise it is only 3-4 minutes longer then single firing at 1000. At 1000 the pairs have been finishing right between 28-30 minutes.
No one has mentioned or complained about fatigue yet. Everyone has enjoyed it.
It’s a balance of shooting value for time. A majority of shooters around me drive from 1 1/2 hours to 4 hours to shoot. It has to be worth their time and balance of travel time.
If I was to do 15 shots, I would have to do 4 relays and then you get into it taking longer in the day, so really your spending more time laying down with 15 shots to get 60 record rounds.

I love shooting at Lodi. I love shooting pair fire. I would be thankful to have the opportunity to do both there all at LR. I think that having a chance to practice right before the V2 Finale could be quite helpful. I would support a 3x15 each day as perhaps a nice balance for course of fire. Love this option. Drew
