Lodi long range (why)

Looking at my updated schedule and I may not be able to make the Midrange match, so jumping over to the LR match. Noticed the itinerary for the LR match has 2 days shooting then a team match, then the final shooting day of the match...why wouldn't you get the single shooter event out of way in 3 straight days then do the team match?

Why do some employers not provide paychecks until quitting time Friday? ;)

I agree, it's silly.

They should have the final day of LR right at the beginning, this way we could skip the other days and save some time.

After two very long days of individual competition at prior Nationals, I for one, was more than ready to sleep in a little late on the team competition day. Of course, that only works if you're not shooting on a team ;).

I don't know when or why, but it's been done this way for at least 5 years. It does keep the shooters around for the final awards. Would you rather shoot 3 days and leave, without staying for the awards?

Put a team together and you won't miss a thing! That's why!

It's really fun to get together and work as a team, it sure makes good friends and cultivates your shooting. At least volunteer to help if you want to see how the teams function or follow a team closely. You will quickly see why it's the most memorable part of the match for the shooters involved!

It is about encouraging people to participate in teams.... Is it that hard to figure out?

It is about encouraging people to participate in teams.....

That is pretty much it in a nutshell.

Look at it this way: If you are traveling a distance to shoot, it is another opportunity to shoot and possibly learn something you wouldn't otherwise.

maybe some of us dont want to be a team to player....

This is why at the International Level we are not at the top of our sport. Meanwhile our Fellow Competitors in Canada, Australia, United Kingdom, New Zeeland, South Africa, ect ect. have a better team than we do in the USA. Team shooting is important to them but we have a nation of individuals trying to compete and win in a Team World Championship. Fostering team events makes everyone a better shooter. It fosters sportsmanship and relationships that will last a life time. You can bang away at long range by yourself and try to learn as much as you can about reading wind for a decade... or you can get involved in a few TEAM events and coach or team captain other shooters and cut that learning curve in half. Yes in Half...The opportunity is there... you just have to take advantage of it.
It has nothing to do with money... its purpose is trying to make the USA better team shooters and get involved.
I can understand if you don't want to be on the side of TEAM USA if you vote for Hilldabeast... That's cool.. LOL just kidding. Hope you all are doing well. Favor center my friends.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I dont know about the other countries, but New Zealand has a similar problem. We are working on it, but its going to take a while

Truth.

Yes, you might feel that your not good enough to compete with a team. However there are always teams put together just to shoot, have fun, and most of all learn. I've learned a lot shooting team matches, it WILL help you to shoot in individual competition. As a shooter you just concentrate on holding and breaking a clean shot where you are told. As a coach you learn to study the conditions and make the proper call.

There is much that can be learned shooting in teams and I encourage anyone and everyone to get in and play. I've had great fun and some success playing that game.

I have gotten behind the scope and tried to call wind for some really good shooters, and there have been times that I have felt really good (calling CJ Brit to a clean 150 at 1000 yards in Phoenix being my best ever) and there have been times that I have felt completely inadequate and over my head, way beyond my skill set (teams at Phoenix last yr and Butner this yr) Teams is the basis of all the international shooting, it was the point back in the day back in the black powder days at Creedmoor and still is today.

If you can find a team get on the line and play, I coached a team at Butner this yr where I had 4 shooters shooting 4 different bullets (200s, 185s, 175s, and 155s). I think all the shooters will tell you they had a pretty good time. As coach, I could have used a little easier conditions :D

And by the way, I don't believe the US FTR team has ever lost a world championship. (and I am sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong)

So that brings up another point. Just because you may not want to be on the National FTR team there still needs to be OTHER teams at the match for them to practice and get better as well. With out the pick up teams, club teams and State assn teams.... there is no team matches to make the USA National team better at what they are trying to accomplish. Keep this mind if you will.

Hoping Idahosharpshooter and Avid flyer can support TEAM USA in a team match. So you can be proud of our shooting teams traveling abroad. Its not a conspiracy I promise.
Along with those teams comes technology developments. Just sayin.

I am Actually glad you brought this topic up. Thank you Avid Flyer and certainly best of luck to you. Shoot well sir.

As an individual shooter, I find I have this exact same issue at almost every match I shoot :).

Team creates a different game than the individuals. It's a pretty fun game to play if you like shooting strategies. I have coached teams and shot right along side usually and have always enjoyed the challenge of it. It's a very exciting game because of the mind power that makes it that way!

The team concept doesn't bother me it's the dicked up schedule. Make the team day the last day like midrange and be done with it...
