Locking lug lube

A few years ago I was researching a lube for AR locking lugs, which are subject to a lot of stress. I came across a post on some blog I belonged to that talked about using a lubricant made by a company called "Phil" and is called "Tenacious Oil". It is apparently designed for bicycle derailleurs and is quite sticky, yet very slippery. I went to my local custom bike shop and they had some so I bought a bottle and have been using it ever since for the bolt locking lugs and cam pin. For the rest of the bolt I use Mobile 1 5W-30. The only issue with Tenacious Oil is temperature, it won't work in cold weather.

"Wheres the best place to apply the grease to the lugs?"

Remove the bolt, clean all dirt/debris from the lugs, apply a small (grain of rice size) bead on the back side (side facing the shooter).

Clean the lug recess at the front of the receiver (Dewey makes a specialized cleaning outfit to do this.
Go to the Dewey rod web site and you may well look at the pictures and decide it is something you can construct)

Reinstall lubed bolt into clean receiver.

I’ve used it on my AR bolts and haven’t noticed temp problems but I wonder if you used it on the bolt body of a regular rifle whether you might have issues.

I've not used it on anything other than the locking lug on my ARs. I had issues in cold weather operation with my AR, but I doubt that would be a problem with a bolt gun.

Try holding the trigger down and cam in the clean and freshly lubed bolt lugs.

Use a dollop and inspect the lugs after without cocking. It’s a good method to get grease applied to both surfaces.

What do you guys recommend for the best live that will stay in place. The lube I’m using now seems to not be able to with stand the pressure.
I use a Wurth product HHS-K which is a high temp/high pressure synthetic oil that stays where you put it. Also the best release agent that I've ever used.

I've been using Mobil 1 synthetic wheel bearing grease. Works as good as any other and a whole lot cheaper.
I am guessing the Valvoline brand of this would be just as well? I happen to have a lot left over from doing the front end on my truck. It is full synthetic, with moly also.

and the first time you close the bolt, 99.9% of it is wiped off

Not true. When I'm shooting an agg match, there is still about 25% of the grease still left. I usually apply a dab after the warm-up target and match 1. Then 1 more time after match 3. Most of the guy's that I shoot against apply it after every match.
