thanks. In a chamber with appropriate freebore (168ish) - 44 grains of varget plus or minus a few tenths will have you in the common node most FTR guys shoot them. Should be 2725-2750 from a 30 inch barrel
Freebore is the key with the heavy pills. 44g was pushing the 185's forward (Norma brass), using an M852 chamber. Now getting 175 freebore, as per the US FTR team reamer. In a chamber with appropriate freebore (168ish) - 44 grains of varget plus or minus a few tenths will have you in the common node most FTR guys shoot them. FNG here here with a question or two. I have a Remington 700 with a Faxon 22" 1-10 twist Remage barrel. I've been shooting 168gr SMK loaded with Federal 210 primers and Varget. Bullets are .020" off the lands. I'm hand feeding rounds, so I'm not limited on magazine length. I usually shoot it with a SilencerCo can.
I'm interested in doing some shooting up to 1,000 yards, so I'd like to develop a load for 185 gr Juggernauts. However, can someone help me out with the freebore issue? Is this a limiting factor for my rifle?
Thanks
Scott

What is your freebore? I assume it's SAAMI give or take a little bit. Juggs will work fine. Berger sells mag length factory ammo with juggs.
Longer freebore would be better, but don't stress over it.
What's the COAL at touch with the 185J ? This should give an indication of your freebore. It's an off-the-shelf Faxon barrel, so I suspect it's SAAMI spec.
