loading to the lands ?

I remeasured my ogive to lands and got
69 gr smk 1.909
77 gr smk 1.900
80 gr smk 1.922

I was surprised in the numbers for 69 and 77. I thought the 69 would have been a lower number than the 77. Does this look about right ?

Unless somebody else uses your measuring attachment, whatever that may be, all measurements are your own for comparison only

Now I know why I was confused.

You are using calipers, which is correct. Set 0 with the comparitor tool screwed into the calipers. That will be your starting point. when you measure base to ogive, I think you were keeping your 0 with the doohicky not on. That accounted for the extra inch or so in your initial post.

Your revised numbers are certainly in the ballpark. What is the best seating depth for your rifle will be told in the size of the groups you are shooting. last week and yesterday, after exhaustive testing, I found with Berger 73 Target rounds in 223 in a Savage target rifle, my best seat was further off the lands than I would have thought
