As im waiting to find a used browning mk2 in good shape , or if I can't ill buy a new mk3 . Im looking for advice on loading for semiauto rifles. Iv always loaded for bolt guns . But Never for a semiauto . It will be in 308 , Any recommendations and advice on powders and such is greatly appreciated....

I would prefer to have an older browning mk2 as I hear, they are better than the newer ones . The newer ones from what I have seen and heard seems to be about a 50/50 rather thay are really accurate or not . Some say they can't get him to shoot any better than three inches at a hundred yards. While the others are under 1in at 100 yards . All I need it for is deer hunting at two hundred yards. If it'll shoot a 3 shot group 1.5in or less at 200 yards im perfectly happy with it .
The newer ones have a 1in12 twist and have heard thay like like the lighter bullets . Not sure if there is really any truth to that

Thanks , chris

What bullet?
I've had great success with Hornady 165gr. With Varget and H4895

Or 125gr with Benchmark
I was thinking about 150g Sierra btsp or maby the hornady bullet with crimp ring .
I have plenty ov varget just didnt know if it would cycle it properly

I had MK2 30-06 and used IMR 4350 with 190 MK bullets but I think the .308 does better with IMR 4064. It's hard to beat IMR 4064 for accuracy if it will shoot good. But I'm sure Varget also a good choice.

I would like to have a mk2 but cannot find one that is in good shape. Or isn't the extremely overpriced. I'm hoping that bargain. It will work with a semi auto mostly for temperature stability.I've always had very good luck with it

I have a MK3 DBM model in 308 and it shoots 150gr Lapua Mega SP’s well and does a great job on deer…the deer haven’t made more than a few feet after the shot. Not sure of the powder I used, I’ll take a look if i interested.

Seems to be an accurate one, but to be honest I just loaded a few rounds, sighted in and took velocity readings, then used it for hunting and it’s hit right where I’ve aimed on 5-6 deer now out to 175 yards…I’m more than happy with it.

It’s a shame. I have one sitting in my safe in Texas. It’s in the cluster of “guns I’m going to sell”. I bought it 15 years or so ago and put it in the safe. When it came in, I decided it was too nice to take into the field.
