4064 or Varget for a bullet like the Sierra Game King. What powders you recommend for one in 308?
I like varget cause its more stable. I can use the same load year around. Wr hunt hogs in summer and deer in winter .4064 or Varget for a bullet like the Sierra Game King.
I stayed off the ball powders because it can range from -25F to +88F during the elk season in CO.
Trial and error. Start low and work your way up. You may need to mpurchase a "small-based sizer die (if you encounter cycling issues) and avoid using the same brass in both gas guns and bolt guns as the chambers may be a little differentIf i get this new browning BAR Mk4 . Ill probably get the 308 as im set up to load it .. where do I find load data for loading for a automatic? Have looked everywhere and no one list "automatic" any suggestions?
You can reload a bolt gun without barely breaking cheek weld pretty darn fast if you practice it a few times.I have had many a times where I could have had 2 deer because I shot the first one. And the other one stood there, staring at me for a few seconds but not going to happen with a bolt action
I always keep brass separateTrial and error. Start low and work your way up. You may need to mpurchase a "small-based sizer die (if you encounter cycling issues) and avoid using the same brass in both gas guns and bolt guns as the chambers may be a little different

That's just the top of the next load data on the page for service rifle 30-06 data. Bad camera work.Whats it say for the 3006 ?
Dang ,That sucks. Definitely buy some spare parts . I like having stuff on hand anywaysI'd buy one each of the small springs inside the action, the sear pawl and wear items as seen fit for spare parts, I have a MKII in 7 MM Rem Mag and cannot get a sear pawl that shot behind an anchored gun safe upon disassembly. Factory not responsive and refers to their very small list of distributors -who don't have what they should. Dang!!! fortunately was able to fish it out. Six months later, I still haven't been called as promised when the part was to come in (figured I'd keep as a spare). Just a cautionary tale. Great gun. Sketchy parts support.
I havent seen rl15 in years around here lol I have tons of varget . Thought about trying h4895My most accurate load for my semi-auto is a 168 Sierra Match King, 41.8 grains RL15 (just in case you had some) Federal primers. 2.8" OAL (or 2.200" using Hornady lock N load tool) Shoots 1/3" MOA in my match M1-A. As you know, every gun is different. The RL15 is a pretty incredible mid-sized cartridge powder, also excelling with the 6BR .243 Win., etc. Worth a try if you have some on the shelf. If not, stuff has been a bit sketchy to find as of late.
I also got almost as good results using 43.2 grains of N140 (.348"), while using a 155 Grain Nosler Custom Competition load that I worked up as an inexpensive load for short range practice.
There was a big batch that hit a lot of retailers a few months ago. I remember it because I was wide-eyed when looking at the prices at a few of the places selling it. And I don't think it was a retailer mark-up situation. I watch for that, along with several other powders my buddies and I use. It doesn't stick around for more than a few weeks.I havent seen rl15 in years around here lol I have tons of varget . Thought about trying h4895
