I have no experience with these powders, and in searching my LGS(s) for No.9 to experiment with loads for my 7.5" 41 mag super blackhawk. I have only been able to find 4100 and Enforcer. Before I buy a pound, I would see if anyone has some close experience with these powders and their results when reloading the 41 mag.
I have 296 and H110 and my current load is 21.5 grains of H110 with a 210 JHP as well as a surplus of 200 JHP remington surplus, Federal 155 primer with a minimum crimp from the lee FC die. I am getting 1370-1390 FPS and very low SD. I am hitting a 6" target consistently at 50 yards. My reloading manuals show this charge as a max charge, but upon looking at the western manual, I may be able to squeeze another 100-150 fps with the use of 4100/Eforcer and standard LP primers. It is my understanding that these powders are very close with Enforcer having a slightly higher burn rate just under No.9
I just finished up a box of factory remington 210 grain jsp that showed no crimp and chronoed at 1420 fps with similar accuracy. This is a hunting outfit and I'd like to possibly reach 1500 fps (safely) to bring as much energy to the field as possible.
With my current H110 load , I am getting flater primers than the factory remingtons, but I attribute this to the softer federal primers and the crimp adding to pressure. I feel the load is pretty clean and all powder is being burnt, I don't imagine eliminating the crimp with accomplish a gain in velocity as well as decrease in pressure. There is indeed no catering from the firing pin so I think I am safe from pressure.
I have shot deer around 100 yards with the 44 mag and a scope, and feel confident that with the red dot and 41 mag, I can hit a 6-8 inch vital zone proficiently, though with 6MOA dot, I realistically don't anticipate bug holes at that distance.
