Load too hot?

Can't believe this load is too hot, but here is what I got.
Brand new Savage mod-12 22-250. New Nosler brass, WLR primers, Used RL-15 with 32.5 gr, 30th off lands. Lyman reloading manual says to start at 31.7gr with 55gr bullets. I'm getting gas leakage around primers with 3 that the primers fell out. When I primed the cases they felt looser than any other I've ever primed. Could this be a combo of slightly large primer pockets & slightly small primers? The leakage isn't on all cases, but about half.

Load sounds low to me - Alliant says 37.5 max for 55gr bullets. I would try different brass and see if there is still an issue and if so i would question the barrel, but I bet it is the brass.

Sounds like bad brass to me. Try CCI's or Rem 9.5's there a little bigger than most other primers. If they go in just as easy I would toss'em and start over.

I had this problem with Lapua 6br brass, in my Dasher. The primers falling out on extraction, along with peirceing. I ended up with a case stuck to my bolt face, that had to be machined out. I ended up scraping al my fireformed brass and starting over.

I've been running 37.0-37.4 of RL15 without any problems. I use Winchester brass and CCI BR2's.

I'll bet the CCI 450's and the Rem 7 1/2's fall out before you even fire the gun. Better stick with Large rifle primers.

bkluke....thanks for correcting you primer selection for the 22-250. I'm sure you didn't see he was loading for the 22-250.

A little fun at your expense. No harm, no foul.

You guys think this was just a bad primer/primer pocket combination? That's not a very hot load...

I just loaded up some new Nosler brass in 7 mag for hunting season and the primers seat very easy, way easier than win or rem brass. I am a little concerned about this also but have not had any problems with gas leakage in the primer pocket and Im actually a half grain hotter than max

Yeah, sorry guys about my mistake on the primer size. They must be way loose.

I think that it is a brass issue. I personally would use Winchester. I have some to sell if you are interested. I think I have 500 not sure. Brand new never been shot. they even come with the large primer pockets.

Went out today with new Winchester brass, same wlr primers& same 55gr nosler BT. Started at 32gr RL-15 & went up to 33.3gr. Didn't see any of the gas leak or popped primers that I did with the Nosler brass. Not the gun, not the primer, not the load. Bad Nosler brass. Lot #DG13B11. Will call nosler Mon. This gas leak caused the extractor pin to jam down in the bolt. I have to take the bolt apart to free it. This was a brand new Savage model 12.
