Load to Duplicate factory Hornady Match

I have a couple 308's that just love the factory Hornady 155 A-Max Match ammo. Does anybody know a recipe for a load that should duplicate this. I have a number of powders to choose from. Thanks for any help. Joe

Depends on your rifle but 43 to 44 grs IMR 4895 or 43 to 46 grs Varget with the 155 A-max should get you what you want.

Does hornady give out load info on their ammo? Most use blended powders and wouldnt dream of giving that info out i.e. Weatherby

They do not use "blended" powders - they use industrial bulk powders that come to them ungraded.

They will not tell you what is them, because you cannot get the same powders.

That load shoots very well in my .308 also and I am also trying to duplicate it. Hornady says the MV is 2850 fps from a 24" barrel. Several other powders besides the ones mentioned above that might get you there are AR-Comp, 2000 MR, and Reloader 15.

Thanks guys, will give some of those a try. Also going to try some CFE223 as it has shown promise in other 308 loads with bullets in this weight range. Will share results when & if I get there.

Tried a few 155 A-Max this morning loaded in W-W brass with Tula LRM primer & 49.0 grs CFE223 with OAL @ 2.810. Four out of five were in a tiny group with one out about 3/4", but the wind was pretty bad with lots of switches & turbulence, so maybe that one just took a ride. Will have to load a few more & try again. Perhaps this barrel just loves the 155 A-Max.
