Load Problem (I think)

There is no difference in thickness between magnum and non magnum primers in the Large Rifle size. Whether or not the strength differs is a controversial subject.

There are differences between primers in energy produced. Have a look at the photos at this link. I think it is fair to say the magnum primers have more energy. But, energy varies a lot from brand to brand too.
Thanks so much for that link to the primer flash photos, that's amazing, I have never seen this before. Thanks again

The above link will take you to Ger-tan rifles, Greg us a local smith and knows plenty about rifle bolts.

Yes, that is a good video, and that is a slick tool, but you can get that Remington design bolt apart just as easily with a couple of pennies, or a shoelace and a penny. Something to know if you get caught in the field with grease on your firing pin in cold weather.

He does not mention putting any kind of lube on the firing pin. That is an option, to just leave it dry. However for corrosion protection, I do like to use a very light silicone oil designed for low temperature gun use. I use Birchwood Casey Synthetic with PTFE.
