Load information for 6.5x284

I have a Rem.model 7 260 and was going to get it opened up to a 6.5x284. I use it for deer hunting in md, and pa. and wanted to get the velocity higher due to short barrel length. Im currently using 100 gr. nosler bal.tip. with win. 760 powder. Any tips for loading data with this bullet.

a model 7 bolt opening is only 2 1/2". most model 7's have either a 18" or a 20" barrel, so, the extra powder should help but i don't think the gain in velocity will be that big.a longer barrel would help. 260 REM. is a very nice round. ive been shooting just 142SMK in my 6.5-284. somebody with more experience with 100 gr. will post you an answer, hopefully. good reason to get ONE more rifle. cliffe

Thanks Cliff, I like the 100 gr. bullet works well. I just wanted to play with something different. I might replace with custom barrel later but am going to go this root for now. I have played with the 25's for years, whby. 250 ack. imp. My first custom built rifle was actually a 284 on a rem 700 lA, Hart 18 1/2" barrel # 5 contour. I enjoy short barrel guns and would like to see what i can do with this 260. Hope i can get some data for the 100 gr. nos bt.
