Are you jamming or jumping? How good are your groups?I run the 108 Bergers in my Model 12. Only dabbled with the 105s so cant offer much help there. It really likes the 108s with Varget. I cant remember what the powder drop is offhand, but if you have the Berger book, I started off with their recommendations. Did not have to vary the load very much to find a happy spot. Started on the low end. If my memory serves me well, I ended up about mid range of the recommended. Then played with seating depths and tension.
I am jumping. Jamming did not work well..least not on my rifle. The jump is very very small. The bolt closes ever so easily. Groups at 100 yd are very small if I do my part. Bug holes if I am paying attention to wind and me being mindful of my positioning behind the rest. Odd ball shots are 9 times out of 10 something I did to affect the group. Are you jamming or jumping? Rick, I will look in my log book to get the exact Varget drops I am using for the 108s. Will be in the shop tonight. Thanks this will give me a starting point got all winter to work on it
I would like to know also. I have some Varget on hand now and would like to try it with those weights of bullets in my 7.5 twist barrelRick, I will look in my log book to get the exact Varget drops I am using for the 108s. Will be in the shop tonight.
Checked my log book and it was 30 gr of Varget.I would like to know also. I have some Varget on hand now and would like to try it with those weights of bullets in my 7.5 twist barrel
Ok I see the 30 grains mentioned a lot and thought it was more on the maximum side.Checked my log book and it was 30 gr of Varget.
I want to try the 105s as well. But have not had time to mess with it.
I thought so too at first. But no pressure signs visible. Burns nice and clean. Necks look great coming out of the rifle. I did not have a decent chrono when these were done originally. I have since bought a Labradar from another forum member and will check the fps. I am frugile (insert word "cheap"). Waited till a deal on a labradar came around.Ok I see the 30 grains mentioned a lot and thought it was more on the maximum side.
I did the same on my 22BR. 1:14 twist to shoot the 50ish grain bullets. Plus I love how easy it is to prep brass.Ok the gun I'm working on is Jacob's that he got Saturday mine has a 14 twist on it that's why I have the lighter bullets but I'll get him some 108s to try or 107s thanks
Yup…don’t jump right in with 30 grains. I started seeing pressure signs in the higher 29+ loads with a 105 in my guns.Ok I see the 30 grains mentioned a lot and thought it was more on the maximum side.
My load:Anyone have any suggestions for a load wonder how good light bullets would shoot in it I've got some 65 68 68bt 107 I know the 107 would probably do good since it's a 8 twist
