Load for 6br 8t savage varmint model 12

Anyone have any suggestions for a load wonder how good light bullets would shoot in it I've got some 65 68 68bt 107 I know the 107 would probably do good since it's a 8 twist

I run the 108 Bergers in my Model 12. Only dabbled with the 105s so cant offer much help there. It really likes the 108s with Varget. I cant remember what the powder drop is offhand, but if you have the Berger book, I started off with their recommendations. Did not have to vary the load very much to find a happy spot. Started on the low end. If my memory serves me well, I ended up about mid range of the recommended. Then played with seating depths and tension.

Are you jamming or jumping? How good are your groups?

I am jumping. Jamming did not work well..least not on my rifle. The jump is very very small. The bolt closes ever so easily. Groups at 100 yd are very small if I do my part. Bug holes if I am paying attention to wind and me being mindful of my positioning behind the rest. Odd ball shots are 9 times out of 10 something I did to affect the group.

Ok the gun I'm working on is Jacob's that he got Saturday mine has a 14 twist on it that's why I have the lighter bullets but I'll get him some 108s to try or 107s thanks

Ok I see the 30 grains mentioned a lot and thought it was more on the maximum side.
I thought so too at first. But no pressure signs visible. Burns nice and clean. Necks look great coming out of the rifle. I did not have a decent chrono when these were done originally. I have since bought a Labradar from another forum member and will check the fps. I am frugile (insert word "cheap"). Waited till a deal on a labradar came around.

I did the same on my 22BR. 1:14 twist to shoot the 50ish grain bullets. Plus I love how easy it is to prep brass.

In my 6 BRs' with 8tw, I found that the "easiest" bullet to find great accuracy is the Lapua Scenar "L" bullet, which likes to be soft jammed with relatively light neck tension and stoked with either Varget or Reloader 15. I look for around 3,000 FPS. With the lighter bullets, the 8" twist can be very finicky, shooting some wonderfully and others quite badly. Experimentation is in order there.

If your 107's are Sierras, I sometimes shoot those (hp's, not tipped) in one of my 8 tw. using 26.0 grns. of 8208XBR. My last group fired with that was at 400 yards, measuring just under 3/4". Those bullets were moly coated, pointed and meplats flattened and seated .015" long, with a light neck tension soft jamb. It was a bit of wind so I know that it will do better. Work up and be safe. For some reason, I failed to copy over my velocity in my notes.

In my 8TW Savage i had my best groups with Berger 108s.
Sierra 107s also shot well and even slightly edged out the Berger 108s at 200-300.
Varget and 4895 tested to be most consistent.
I tested a lot on bullets from 90 to 108 and heavies were in the 3s at 100 pretty consistenty.

I forgot to mention I found .010 in was what the barrel liked.
I jumped for testing but testing proved this was not any improvment and I figured being .010 in was eliminating any seating run out.

The last one I did ran the 105 Bergers and the 107 Sierras equally as well with 30.0gr of Varget, That load is right at maximum in that rifle giving just a slight heavier bolt lift but pockets remain tight and groups small. 28" 8 twist Shilen 1.25" straight bull, on a trued up Winchester 70 Action. Norma Brass, CCI #450s.
