Load Development Result of 185 LRBT vs Hybrid

I just finished end up first roughly load to find OCW for my F-TR rifle.

Seem like my rifle chamber maybe too short for use 185 Hybrid.

The first one was 185 LRBT out of 24" barrel 1:10 tw
COAL 2.900" (Jump 20)
Chamber .343" nk , .098 fb with 1-30

The pressure sign start at 44.0 gr.

The Second one was 185 Hybrid out of 24" barrel 1:10 tw
COAL 2.970" (Touch Land)
(Same Chamber)

For this projectile, the pressure sign start at 43.5 gr. So, I just stop at that point.

My purpose was for shooting at 600 and 800 yards.

Then look forward through the accuracy node (Low in both SD & ES) in High MV.

For other members who had an experienced in tune up for both 185 LRBT & Hybrid, please sharing about your accuracy node for both projectiles.

Left : 185 LRBT
Right : 185 Hybrid

Seem like my new 185 Hybrid required more tune in small increamental to find the better load.

Also, Will change to seat .020" out of land as LRBT.

With my .098" fb (Measure Base to Ogive)

185 LRBT will touch land at 2.275"
185 Hybrid will touch land at 2.250"

If measure COAL
185 LRBT will be touch land at 2.920"
185 Hybrid will be touch land at 2.975"

Lastly I test this highest load of 185 Hybrid with 44.5 gr. by my friend rifle which chamber with F-TR Reamer .342" , 168 fb , 1-30

Out of 30" 5R Barrel 1:10 tw

With starting pressure sign.

Where are the targets?

The target group at 200 yards.

(May not tightly group due to shooter error. Because I firstly attention on MV , SD , ES.

Will test again in detail for longer distance.

I shoot both of these bullets with the same exact load and almost the same results, FYI.

VLD's are a different story.

PS: both my 308's love being .030 to .050 off the lands with both the LRBT's and Hybrids.

43.5grns with WW primers, Lapua brass, and they rock.

Start lower with your charge and build up.

2,725 fps gives me my best accuracy. 10 or 11 twist.

I have 10, 11, & 12 twist 308's. All of them shoot! 28" Bull barrels.

Picked up some Juggernauts yesterday at Brunos for my 1000yd loads. Going to start working up some loads in the next couple of weeks.

Varget, 4064, or H4895. Which would you start with?

I had good results with H4895 and the 185 gr HPLRBT

I have been shooting both 185 LRBT and the 185 hybrid .010" off with 44.2 Varget BR2's and Lapua brass. The LRBT shoots a little tighter at closer range but the hybrid bucks the wind allot better for me. Next time I go to the range I am going to seat the hybrids a little deeper .030" or a little more. Within Limited capacity of my Lapua Brass when comparing with Win Brass, I would prefer H4895 for start.

I think it all depends on your feebore. The hybrids didn't work for me because of my short throat. They had to be seated too deep in the case which raised pressures to soon. I think the Hybrid is a great bullet if you chamber for it and don't plan on magazine loading your rounds. In my case the 175 OTM is my go to bullet unless the winds really howling then I switch to the 185 LRBT.
I also don't use brass destroying loads. 43.3 grains of Varget gets me 2615 fps in my 24 inch barrel with cci 250 primers, and Lapua brass. Accuracy is stellar and my brass appreciates the moderate load. I've shot this load out to 1000 yards with no complaints.

It appears that you do your testing with a chronograph first. Do you believe that the lowest ES/SD will produce the smallest groups?

there are some competitive shooters I have read articles on that load for smallest Es and that is the load they use. Claim they don't really look for group size in that smallest ES should create least vertical at distance

If the barrel didn't vibrate it would be true. But it's not.
