Load development from the bench for f-open

Have you guys seen a difference in the way the gun shoots off the bench? Say you work up a load prone, then off the bench, will you end up in the same spot? I am more consistent off the bench and would prefer to do my testing there.

I am backwards from what you want but I shoot br and shot a 600 f-open match last year and my gun worked great. so I would say if she shoots good on the bench then it will do so from the ground.

I agree, providing you behave the same on your end.

I do ALL my load development from the bench. I do all my practice prone. I see no difference in rifle behavior. However, I do notice a difference in my ability... My ability dwindles the longer I am prone.

I use to have the same problem and I think every prone shooter has. It takes time to find your comfort zone in prone. I think I shoot as well or better now and feel comfortable doing it.

Hey Mike! I have a different sort of problem>>>I have a pinched nerve in my neck and it causes muscle strain in my neck. I can normally make 1/2 hour, however, if I have to take most of the time in each match, by the time I near mid-3rd match, I am literally trembling in my trapazius muscles>>>It can be quite disconcerting.. But I live with it..

I can relate to this. I have to set up high to get through it.

Rex in Sniper 101 believes that there is a difference in harmonics if your shooting on different surfaces.

I think the way the gun recoils against your shoulder is different and "you " can influence the rifle to shoot good or bad !!!.....Roger

I to have a problem with my neck muscles, I to find that a higher position does help considerably. As for bench v prone I find that they are for the most part relative. Obviously the recoil has some slight differences and some adjustment may be needed, however bench testing for me tends to be more reliable than prone shooting. As a HM for long range and mid range obviously I have a lot of time in the sling but still it isn't as reliable as the solid position off of the bench.
