LOAD DEVELOPMENT FOR .308 WINCHESTER

Yes, I understood that. I was just making a comment about using good components. Not the load data used. Sorry for not making that clear.

No jump. Using Sierra COAL per the data.

SC1911 -Where do you live? Perhaps someone local to you can give you a hand getting started.

Varget/ADI 2208 look up ADI load data on Google they use winchester brass lap a brass will be less.
In my barrels 1.13 twist I haven't been able to get the accuracy I'm happy with but a common load here is 45.5 to 46 grains for varget/2208 win brass users are around 46.5 to 47 grains.
Myself to me varget/2208 is cannon powder and it's dirty and lot to lot velocity varies I know some will disagree as it works but not for me.
My favorite combo is H4895/2206H lapua palma brass cci br4 primers 155.5 burgers 5thou into the lands if you try between 44gr to 45gr with this combo you will find a node my current load is 44.8gr and velocities are at 3005fps.
Varget/2208 I tried yesterday was 45.7gr was 2976fps and accuracy was crap I have given up on 2208/varget.
I have not tried the bullet you are using but hope this helps as usual "WORK UP TO LOADS LISTED".

Cheers Trev.

Take a sharpie and color the bearing surface completely. Now take a fired case and flatten ome side of neck, just enough to hold bullet.
Insert in rifle loosely, and close bolt.
Repeat a few times measures each time. This is your jam length. Back off .002-.003 for starters. Cheaper than gauges and it works

2cents ! I have shoot Palma for a few to many years.
I have shoot every 155 gr. bullet made.
barrels 30" to 32" 1-13 now 1-12 .
Brass Win. Lupua and new Peterson .
Powder Varget and IMR 4320.
Primers Fed. 210m , Wolf and BR-2

Having said all that Varget is Lot by Lot not equal .
The old standard Velocity for a 30' Barrel was 2984
The new average is 3014 + or - with 32" barrel
I know people who run even Hotter ??

I have had Varget with 45.5 grs to 46.5 grs. that gave the same Velocity ?

Sierra 2156 Plama Bullets are very Good , you can jump them from .020 to .040 off with no trouble.
If ever have a mind to try Berger ? 155 HB at .020 off shoot 1 min. flatter at 1000 one 2156 in my Rifle.

Best of Luck

Berger 155.5 are very good also

Tnx for the replies. Been working a lot and no time to shoot. I have laodedup some rounds to see if I can find the Velocity Node. Then I will adjust powder hoping to refine it. After that I will play with the seating depth. I do have the tools picked up over time to allow me to find the lands.

Won't hurt to know your seating depth to the lands but the SMK doesn't mind a jump.. the new TMK does not like it as much...

As one of a few who developed loads for Sierra's first 155 Palma bullet, we settled for 45.3 grains of IMR4895. Shot about half MOA in a few dozen rifles at 600 yards.

Soon learned 46.0 grains of Varget shot as well in as many rifles.

Both loads had bullets gently jammed into the rifling with SAAMI spec chambers with a little less freebore.
