lightweight 6mm in 13.5 twist

What's everyone's preference in 100yd lightweight 6BR bullets in a 13.5 twist?

62g Bergers..., and what else?

you need to let your barrel tell you what bullet it likes best. Any quality 6mm bullet from 60gr to 75gr will work well. I have even shot 80gr bullets in my 13.5 twist Bartlein 6ppc. they grouped well and stabilized just fine. However they are not the best bullet for small groups in my barrel. I would recommend you find some custom 68gr 6mm bullets and go shoot them. Of course this all depends on how your chamber was cut. it sounds like your good to go with 68gr bullets though. Brady knight has some good bullets at the moment as does randy Robinett. George Ulrich makes one of my favorite bullet for my 13.5 twist. Buy some custom bullets or at least some Berger 68gr fb and try them out. Find the right seating depth and i will just about bet you will leave the range with a smile on your face. Good luck brother! I have never tried any custom bullets in my 13.5 twist 6BR, but it shoots in the 2s and 3s with Sierra 70 grain Match King bullets at 100 yards, with occasional groups in the 1s. It shoots them much better than Berger 68 grain bullets. I do wonder what custom bullets would do but considering the inexpensive price of the Sierra's, I've been satisfied with the results I'm getting.

Lee's advice is the best. The gun will tell you what it likes, so you basically have to try a number of them.

I just tried a different tack with the 68 gr. bullet seating in my 6br1-14 lijla as suggested on another thread. I started out at .005 jump and in increments of .005 seated three rounds up to .025 jump. Load was 32.5 of 8028, Fed 205m primer, Precision Ballistics 68 gr FB & Lapua brass on it's 8th loading with neck sizing only, trimmed to 1.250. I use a .267 bushing for a finish load of .269 for a .271 neck. With the .005 jump, I had a 3/4 inch cloverleaf. With successive jumps the groups got tighter until the last one at .025 gave me a group less than .100. I have ten loaded the same way for the next trip to the range and three loaded at .030 jump. It's gonna be interesting. :)

Jefats, I don't have the loads chronyed. May not be of much help but Hodgdon lists a load of 32.7 of 8028 pushing a 70gr. Nosler BT @ 3361. Hog
