Light weight tuner experience?

Having a new score gun barrel chambered and thinking about adding a tuner. I’m real close on weight with my current scope and stock combo. I’ve seen the thin cone shaped tuners used by a bunch of guys and also the DSB and Cortina tuners that thread directly on the barrel and tension off of an o-ring. All of these are only a couple oz. What experience are you guys having? Any preference of one over the other?

I’ve run Ezell and Bramley tuners. They both work fine. I’m currently using Bramley’s because of the smaller size.

I make my own, at 1.04 ounces they work great. Sold all my EC and Bradley’s.

Do you find with it being so light…that it responds differently?

Just about any amount of adjustable weight on the end of a barrel can be used as a tuner. I suppose the lighter the tuner, the more it will have to linear advance in order to affect the barrels harmonics as apposed to a heavier tuner.

The tuners on my Short Range Benchrest Rifles average about 4 ounces. They are my own one piece design and work great on typical LV and HV barrel profiles,

I use the ATS tuners as I like to put a brake or suppressor on over them. They work very well and easy to tune.

Yes the lighter mass needs a bigger adjustment. The tuners is the last adjustment after all the other knobs have been adjusted. This is more important as the weight of the tuner is reduced. My opinion and experience in the non br worlds.

I’ve shot EC and Bramleys only. My experience with the heavier tuners is that it only takes a 1/2 to a full mark at times to make a big difference on target.
I honestly think with a lighter tuner you can stay in tune longer and have a bigger window to do so.
Yes it requires more movement but not by more than 2-3 marks. It definitely has a larger tune window as stated above.
I just installed one, 3rd for a shooting buddy of mine today.

I use 1/8" diameter O' rings to match diameter of muzzle. Stack on one at a time.

"The Art of Rimfire Accuracy" by Bill Calfee. EXCELLENT book and fascinating. Has a LOT of good information about slugging the barrel and tuners. Without the proper amount of weight in the proper position the barrel isn't "tuned". It's improved by a certain amount, but not 100%.

I use the pma tuners, they are super easy to adjust and work great. I have them on all of my competition guns. They are 4 oz. And small adjustments are all that's needed.

I use Bramley tuners because of the weight issues with FTR.
I can honestly say they absolutely work. Several national records last year and the 200-20x at our club 600 yard match last week.
