Light weight factory deer rifles that do not utilize DBM’s?

I’m taking the lazy man’s way out and hoping some folks will chime in.

I’m considering a lightweight factory deer rifle. It doesn’t need to be crazy light but saving some weight would be good. I’d prefer to go with a 7mm-08 or something with a similar case capacity but I do not want a detachable box magazine. I’d like a hinged floor plate. Does this animal exist? Thanks.

Get an older Remington mountain rifle, or a model-7. Both are available with the drop floor plate.
Browning A-Bolt has the drop for plate that houses an internal, removable magazine.

If the floorplate isn't mandatory, then the Forbes ultra light would be great.

My son's 7mm-08, Tikka, T-3 X , Super Lite using, 150 gr. ELD-X's, shot Awesome with, RL-17.
He shot a Nice, 6 x 6 Idaho Bull at, 247 yds with it.
It was an angled shot, with good Penetration and 113 grains of, retained bullet weight ( Clipped shoulder blade, One Lung and ended up, in rear Ham ) after breaking, the Femur Bone.
The 7-08 is hard to beat with, 120 grain to 140's shot out of it for, Deer and, IF ever, wanting to, Shoot, an Elk or, Moose,.. those 150 gr. ELD-X's,.. get it, done !

Other than the new owner saying he liked the field craft 9 months ago at shot show, do you have any new information about the actual production being restarted?

I don’t think anyone mentioned Howa. They built a version with hinged floor plate in an H-S Precision stock, with the aluminum bedding block. Not a real light weight but Timney makes three position triggers to replace the HACT factory trigger. I bought one in 6.5 Needmore to play with because I like the stock pattern so much. When I look at rifles, I look forward to what they could be next. I favor the 7-08 over the 6.5 CM.

Agree, The 6.5 Creed., is Plenty for Deer / Antelope, but IF Elk are thrown in at, any further Distance's to speak of,..
I'd go with, the 7mm-08, too ( More of, a SURE thing on, the bigger stuff ! )
I bought my 6.5 Creed., Tikka, as a Replacement for, the .243 Win, that, I gave to my grandson, 3 years ago.
Will be using it for, Deer, Antelope, Coyotes and,. LOT'S of,.. Steel, Target Practice
It's an accurate and Fun, SOB,.. so far

It’s appears to me the sub moa guarantee is one(a) 3 shot group under .99 in a 2 year period using premium ammo. Big loop hole as I read it.

My favorite for stand hunting and carrying around is one that many don't like - Remington 600 in 6mm Remington. 3 deer last year, 3 and counting this year. Short, light, and handy.
