light weight br

hi
new at this so here it goes,i would like to build a light weight carry rifle on a 700rem action chambered in 6br.barrel Length would be 22in. to keep weight down and a magnum contour for a bit of stiffness.question is on feeding??would a HS precision clip system feed the round properly with no problems?next is rate of twist and bullet to shoot? all shoots will be around 300 to 400 yards with the odd one out to 500.any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
thanks Darin

For a carry rifle 22" barrel fiberglass stock you are looking at a 8-9# gun with a medium taper barrel. 6 BR is fine you probably want to start a 1-10 twist barrel with 75 grn Sierra varminter bullets or others in different bullet weights. Go with the best scope you can afford. A tactical Burris might be in your range a nice 6-24x XTR. Anything you get in that scope will be dead with your 6 BR. Nice project come back with it.

Re mag feeding, there is a relatively simple modification that achieves good results with the standard remington magazine. It involves blocking the back of the magazine and reshaping the follower. I'm not familiar with the HS magazine, but you could probably do something similar but more time and expense would be involved.
