Life expectancy....

With reasonable care,i.e._keeping action clean, bolt lugs greased, not overloading, what do you think the life expectancy of a CUSTOM action is? I'm talking more on the lines of a 6PPC benchrest rifle. Has anyone kept and used an action long enough that a replacement was warranted?...5yrs...10yrs...15yrs...20yrs...or more??? Thank you...gpoldblue

I have a Hall action still going strong after only 15,000 rounds. But I did replace the mainspring at 10K, and that should be a given.

I was looking at a smith's rifle once, while he was checking mine out. he shoots benchrest way more than I ever will. He said the action I was looking at had over 40,000 rounds on it. You couldn't tell one bit that it had any wear on it. looked fantastic. so I would buy one and not look back. If you are like me, you will get tired of it and want something else long before you wear it out. I usually get tired of something before I even get 1/2 way thru the first barrel.
