I finally broke down last year and bought one. My other brands would range past 1000 yards but in tough hunting conditions they didn't always work reliably. After my buddy hammered my elk for me last year because I could get my range finder to read the range in the sage due to the shallow angle, I bought a range finder like he had, a 1600b. (He was too far away to tell me the range and they were moving out :-[ )

For the size, performance, weight, and features I don't think you can beat the Leica 1600B.

I picked up the Leica 1600b 12 months ago and haven't looked back, ranges out to 1700 metres (and a little more on occasions) on solid objects and shaded tree lines regularly, on smaller objects like Goats have ranged them consistently at the 1450 metre mark with solid rest, and rabbits which I rarely shoot at past 600 metres are ranged very easily. The 1000 metre mark reads on most anything you point it at, very pleased with it and highly recommend.

We compared a Newcon 2200 si rangefinder to the Leica 1600 and the Newcon ranged better than the Leica. We were ranging out to 1250 yards and got readings every time with the Newcon the Leica was consistent out to about 950 yards but at 1250 yards it was not consistent. I ranged a corn field at 1054 yards and got readings every time, the last time I priced the Newcon it was
$639.00 shipped.

Anyone else have experience with other Newcon RF? I don't hear much about them...just wondering. Like the price but question how?

We compared a Newcon with a Terrapin last hunting season. It wouldn't hold a candle to a Terrapin. The Swarovki did better then the Newcon. My buddy went to buy a Terrapin and they were out at the time and the guy gave him a Newcon and said they were as good. Monday morning we had a bear at 1130 and he couldn't range it. He took it back and got a Terrapin. I told him it was 1130 and he wanted to range it with his. Meanwhile the bear walked into a hollow and must of followed it up the mountain because it never came out the other side. Matt
