Just shot some yesterday in some fire form loads for the 6mm Fat Rat ( 6mm Grendal). Since its a ball powder it meters perfect for this type of loading. For the 200 and 300 yard stage I like to use a powder that meters well through a Harrel Measure I have. Just dump it and seat a bullet. FOund a sweet spot with it that formed the brass real well and also the AR functuned 100% correctly. It shot a tiny little group as well.( Ill post a couple if I get them off my camera)

I have a caveat.... I mentioned here a couple of times it is not a ball powder... But in fact it is. Not sure what the heck I was thinking before I left for the desert... I tested a bunch of new powders right about the same time and must have had my thoughts about what was what messed up. I can tell you I was suprised when I opened up the jug again.... Lots of head scratching. Reguardless it is still in theburn rate as Varget. It performs like Varget in the cases that I have tried it in so far. The load Density is down however and for that reason I dont think I would use it as my number one Plama Load. Other powders like H4895, N140, N150, XBR 8208 and even AR comp would be better choices. Its important to get that 155gr Palma bullet up to round 3000fps and at 1000 yards your ES and SD need to be as small as you can get them. Just a thought. Damn Im getting CRS.... ( cant remember shit).

Thanks for the info Russ,
I'll take it down a peg or two on my immediately buy it upon sight meter... I've had great AR-Comp and Varget results, and I'm just now finding the temperature sensitivity of CFE223 which might rule out Ball for me. I can certainly see the appeal for an easy metering varget burn rate for high volume though.

Made it back to the range today for some more load testing with LeveRevolution in my FT/R rig. Loaded 5 each of 46.5, 46.7, 46.9 gr of LVR, all with 155 Palma SMKs seated .003 off lands, Lapua Brass once fired FL sized, BR-2 primers. I was kind of in a hurry so some of my groups were pretty crappy. Biggest take away from the day: 46.7gr LVR- AVG Velocity- 2909, ES-32 (not bad for my loading*), 5 shot Group was 1.03in at 200yds which is really dang good for me, and I think it is my best 200yd group to date. I saw pretty diminishing returns with 46.9gr LVR with an avg velocity at 2904 and a terrible ES of 45. Primers are just starting to flatten a bit, but no cratering and no sticky bolt lift.
*I say not a bad ES for my loading because I dont use a $500 scale, I use a Lyman M5 that I did a little tweaking on, and then double check charge weights on a small Hornady electronic scale. Both scales are .1 gr accuracy. My dies are off the shelf Lee FL, Collet Neck die, and seater die.

My next step is to load up 25 of these with 46.7gr LVR and 25 of my Varget load (46.5gr) and shoot them in my clubs 600yd match and see how they compare. I think my varget load is a touch hotter, closer to 2950 fps, but I think this LVR load will make a great alternative load.
