Lever Gun Photo Set

Was looking around as a new member and saw it should be pretty easy to share pics here. So, not so bright me will attempt to pass on a couple of pics of some of my lever guns. Looks like the two BLRs are a .358(L) and .450(R) and in between two Marlins a .375(L) and .444(R)

Re: Gun Pics

A couple more old fashioned levers. I hadn't hunted much with a lever rifle for years and just began enjoying it again recently. Laugh if you like, I don't mind....lol. ;D
Top one is my newest, .308MX, next is my oldest, 336ER and finally an 1895/45-70

Re: Minor Gun Porn

Lever guns aren't really my bag but they're still pretty cool. Anything chambered in .45/70 cant be bad. ;)

Re: Minor Gun Porn

Any body out there with a pick of a hot Savage 99 in 358 Win to thril me? A 99 rebarreled in 338 Fed would also turn me on. Those would be my ideal heavy cover elk rifles. Here in Colorado even hard used ones in 308 are way over priced.

I have a friend in Idaho rebarreling a M99/.308 to .358. So far it's been a very difficult task. :o I own both the .338F and .358W in bolt rifles too and agree that a nice lever in .338F would be awfully nice. What I'd really like to see is the .35Whelen in a BLR w/20" barrel. ;D

Re: Minor Gun Porn

My only experience with the BLR was shooting a friends in 300 Win Mag. OUCH. Your idea sounds interesting. Also how about one in 338-06. I think Savage made some 99's in 358 Win but haven't ever seen one. Probably held on to by the first owner. I'm thinking reboring the barrel of a 308 Model 99 to 338 might leave it too thin for safe rifle. I had a guy offer me a 99 in 300 Savage with an old Weaver 2.5 steel scope on it for $500. I passed. Now I wonder if I shouldn't have taken him up on it. Oh well.

Re: Minor Gun Porn

Or find yourself a nice M71 in 348Win. Would sure look nice with those others. I had two but sold them to buy an F-Class gun. Still have a M99 in 300Savage from my teens.

I have always wanted an original M71 or the newer Browning clone. The .348 is a great cartridge. I'm just not sure how well these older eyes would do without a scope tho. I reckon I could always put a peep sight on it.

I know that Winchester made the M88 in 358 Win and one of those might be an easier conversion. It doesn't have the looks of your guns or the M71 but it is configured nicely for a scope. I had one in 308 Win for a while but got rid of it to buy something else. Actually, I think they made the M88 in 284 Win. Now there is an idea for you. A 338/284. I shoot a 284 Shehane in F-Class and the 284 is a great cartridge.

I have a nice M88 in .308 and have thought many times of rebarreling it to .358. But it shoots really well and is worth more as is. I found a 1984 M77 NIB in .284 about a year ago and love it. It too would be a great caliber for the 88. I sure wish they weren't quite as expensive now... :-\

I have a few 99 lever guns and they are one of the most attractive guns on the planet.I have one in .300 sav ,.303 sav,and .308. I have several 336's in various calibers including a 1894cl in .218 bee. That one is a real shooter.
