Lever gun forum...?

This is my BSA Martini Cadets in 357 Super Mag that shoot 200 grain RCBS plain base hard cast and powder coated or 180 Hornadys into 1" at 200 meters with 296. I built them because in 1980 I was told it could not work, I love being told something can't work, so I built two.

Accurate is in the mind of the shooter. Don't you think?
Hah! I'm an accurate shooter - in my own mind!

I shoot lever guns in metallic silhouette matches. Iron sights, standing position, out to 100 meters. My rifles are accurate enough, the sights are clear enough and the targets are big enough so it's great fun. No, they're not even close to the 6 BRA I've started messing with, but using lever guns can make for a challenge and gobs of enjoyment.

Accuracy within the limits of the platform! Gary was once talking about Cowboy Benchrest! Can you imagine at the super shoot the whole line with Marlins and Winchesters all shooting 38/357 for the Cowboy Bench Rest Hall of Fame. Two inch wide for end, all must have wood stock sets.

I propose cowboy high power. 30-30 lever gun, iron sights, hasty sling, 100 and 200 yards, standing and from the saddle, 10 rounds each, spurs optional.

PS... we've been watching this TV show called Fallout, a post apocalypse thing that's not bad. One of the main characters is sporting the cowboy vibe and carries a couple of Mare's legs. I'm unconvinced they offer a practical advantage but they certainly look cool.

The pistol calibers in the lever guns interest me. A 10mm "Thumper" would be fun and recoil wouldnt be bad. JMHO
I bought an old JM Marlin in 44 magnum. Accuracy is marginal so I bought one of the new Ruger/Marlins in 44. Accuracy is so much better! Night and day difference! I’d recommend one to anybody that asks.
Don’t know if they make them in 10mm. I have too many 44 Magnum components to use up in my 629 so I went for the lever gun.
I also bought a Rossi in 45 Colt. It was on the counter of my favorite Local Gun Shop when I walked in one day. Stainless gun with a 24 inch octagonal barrel. I brought it home. It’s nice and fairly accurate, but I can’t put a scope on it. It had some feeding issues that I solved with a longer COL. Given the choices out there, get a Ruger/Marlin and save yourself a headache.

We do that in our local chapter of Cast Bullet Association. It's not a sanctioned match per se but we still do it and send scores in just like a regular match. I shoot a scoped 30-30 Winchester 94 and do quite well with it, great way to have fun in January.
