Lever gun forum...?

We finally got a handgun thread, how 'bout us lever lovers?
I have two I really enjoy shooting.

1. 1895 rifle in 405 Winchester. Roosevelt took one to Africa, called it his "Medicine Rifle" for Lion. The first modern smokeless big bore.

2. 1886 Winchester rifle in 45-70. Mine's a pistol grip 26" barreled version.

I would have no qualms about hunting anything in the world with either. How about you gentlemen?

There are a couple of levergun forums, and the Cast Boolit forum has a section on leverguns as well as discussions on them in the BPCR section.

Enjoy reading your posts !

I have a CT-made M-336XLR .35 Remington, that is just stupid accurate…

Example pics show first 3 shots of a nice 5-shot 100d group I had started on.
I held outside the 3shot cluster for the last 2 shots…. based on what I thought
the windflag was showing me. AAAaakkk !!

I only use my XLR for load experiments, and for 100yd target shooting.

Just a fun, fun gun !

Howdy, again !

A few more pics, that show my experimental wildcat “ .35 Remington Neckless “.

I pulled 195gr .35” caliber swagsd lead plastic-tipped Spitzers w/ a rebated boat tail, from .45” cal saboted muzzle loader rounds. I “ patch “ these using nylon DYMO label maker tape.

One pic shows the “ patched “ swayed lead bullet seated in an example .35 Remington case, however…. Loaded neck OD is too large in diameter to allow chambering in my factory M-336 XLR .35 Remington. * The fix = load and shoot the patched bullet, using a “ Neckless “ case, as pictured to the Rt of the standard .35 Remington Neckless case.

The patched bullets are introduced to the breech using homemade bullet seating tool,
ala’ Scheutzen style. Closing the lever introduces the charged case to the bullet, which basically self-guides its way towards being fully seated by utilization of the bullet’s rebated boat tail.

Case’ “ mouth “ ID is .002” large in diameter than the .308” diameter of the top of the rebated boat tail. Powder combustion gasses are sealed initially, by interface of the bullet’s rebated boat tail body overhang w/ the flat brass ring surface surrounding the case’ mouth.

The “ .35 Remington Neckless“ has accuracy ( shot from my M-336 XLR .35 Remington )
that is “minute of deer” .

Let's give the Boss a break. Lever guns are still rifles and he has more than enough on his plate. Questions and comments can still fit nicely into the various caliber threads. Not sure what all it would take, but not enough people are paying their way to stretch him too thin as it is.
