If by 'std knobs' you mean hunter knobs not turrets, it really decreases the value. I bought a VXIII-LR 6.5x20x40 w/ hunter knobs recently for $475, then sold it for $525 to get one with turrets.

Excellent optics though. If you're not a knob turner, they're a great scope.

I paid $685 for a new VX3 version of this scope with a varmint hunter reticle. It is worth it, nice scope.

But, is your scope the VXIII or the VX3 -- there is difference because the VX3 is the new one, VXIIIs were discontinued in 2008.
