Leupold Warrantee work on older scopes

I recently bought a 7.5 x40 M8 with AO on eBay. It was in nice shape but I thought I’d send it back to Leupold to them to check it out before mounting it on a 22 WMR rifle. I had one of these back in the 70s and foolishly sold it. After Leupold had it a few weeks they contacted me to say it wasn’t repairable. Hell - I didn't know it was broken!! They said the lens had separated. My only option was to take it back or they’d replace it with something similar. Well – they don’t make anything like that anymore and I needed to be able to trust the scope so I opted for a VX freedom 3x9x33 with AO. I’ve since heard from another source that Leupold has decided it’s cheaper to just replace scopes rather than repair them. Had I known that I’d have thoroughly checked out the scopes tracking before sending it back to Leupold. This changes my decision to buy older - no longer made Leupold scopes - thinking all will be well after Leupold checks them out. I realize no other companies offer this service and I’m glad to be getting a new scope (whenever production catches up in 4-9 months) but I really wanted that M8 7.5x40 AO. Thanks for listening

No warranty is forever! Same concept as a free lunch. I own a lot of great weavers I would not send back to them now as they will send you a cheap a$$ Bushnell in return.

l bought a 7.5x40 AO w/Target KNOBS. Fine crosshairs. l absolutely love the scope. l put it on an old 700ADL
Sporter in 222rem. The Fine crosshairs are great for me too. No reticle clutter like newer scopes. One feature l learned about these old FX AO scopes is the Target Knob models have CLICK adjustments. The other FX AOs l have seen w/o targets were friction adjust.

I just bought an older Leupold as well from a guy. I got it out of the box and it had no reticle. LOL I let the guy know who sold it to me and he did offer to give me my money back. I got it cheap so I said I’ll see if Leupold will repair it. If they replace it, even better!D238B0CB-2898-49FA-94F1-19FC3A9BE026.jpeg

Thats what I meant on my post, I buy them in really rough shape. Leupold will not repair due to no parts available. Leupold will replace it. I just bought a Vari-X III 8.5-25 x50 , 30mm. Previous owner stated that reticle was broken, and it sure was. He just didnt want to deal with it. So I bought it very cheap. Leupold will exchange it if not repairable. I guess some members didn't quit liked my comment.

Dear Barrowsr , there is a place in Texas. I think it is optics scope repair.
This was started when weaver scopes went under. Bill Ackerman, bought all the necessary optics to repair scopes for the last 30 or 40 years and has repaired scopes of different brands and weaver straight power and in some instances a variable. His daughter is doing it now
Bill , has passed away. I sent a T-25
Weaver , and she charged $300.00 , does very good work. This may be more than mine or less. This is
Cheryl's number she will call back and maybe at night.
905-740-4290 .
I hope this helps S.R. Buck ,in n.c.

Try centering the turrets on the 6.5x20 scope. To far from center will mess up the image big time.
Good luck.

When you say centering the turrets ,Paul do you mean screwing the turrets all the in , then count the number of backing out complete turns then divide
By two. Buck

Dear DGP4, try optical repair service in texas. Cheryl , is doing repair on
Weaver straight power , and some variations. She repaired a T-25 and is great. Cheryl's dad bought weaver's
equipment when they shutdown.
Cheryl's charged me $300.00 to get it to back to factory specs and is great.
DGP4, call her first about repair on the weaver. I had the number and misplaced it , here it is 905-740-4290
I hope this helps. This reminds of a country song, about Cheryl who is
go to fill her shoes. She is married but no one helping her, I don't think.

Dear hor53 , I wasn't going to bring this up . One of those leupold
3x9x33 that wouldn't move to the left.
I sent it off and got it put on my 22 rifle , same thing wasn't fixed. I was pissed to the tenth power. I called leupold and I told them I wasn't happy with their service. I got a tech
his name is Jeb Stevens, he is good and fixed the scope and sent a pickup by u.p.s. I hope he hasn't
retired . hor53, try him or ask for him.
I am impressed tell him what's going on. I like leupold scopes, more the older than new. I bought a leupold
Ultra scopes, this is before mark 4's
I called leupold about repairs and check out. The tech said they are built like a tank, and they are great scopes ,the leupold ultra's, I hope this helps, Buck
