Leupold VX-R Pig Plex

I have a VX-R Patrol and I like it. The Fire Dot illumination on mine is pretty nice and daylight visible.
The Patrol model is Mil-Mil but second focal plane.
Value was ok when I bought it, today it's probably a bit much for what you get. The glass does seem nice even though it is Asian manufactured.
It's not a direct comparison but I could have done worse.

I just sold a 77/357 that had a 2-7x33 VX-R, with what looks like an identical reticle, except it doesn't have 'pig plex' written on it.
For hunting at short ranges, it's a sweet little setup. The glass is very clear, and the 'fire dot' is great in all light conditions. The reticle is really thick though; feels like each line covers up ~1" or so at 100 yards. That's the only thing I didn't care for, but with my 357, it wasn't accurate enough to really be a problem; just felt strange.
I have a soft spot for the VX-Rs; their only real downside is unexpectedly low levels of adjustment. It's not like you're dialing to 1,000 with this though.
