Best $450/$500 scope

I'm looking for opinions on the best scope in the $450 to $500 range, with a 50mm lens.
I was looking at the Nikon3 4x16x50 and the Leupold VX-2 3x9x50.
Or for another $50 I could get a VX-3 2.5x10x50?
Any opinions on those three or any others would be appreciated. It'll be going on a Ruger #1 338winmag.
Thanks Bill

Those are all good scopes. You may want to check for a clean used one on this forums classifieds at a discount. You may also want to look at a used Zeiss Conquest, they are very nice scopes for the money very bright and clear. Good Luck.

Take a look at the Vortex Viper scopes. Great value for the money and clear too.

Thanks T 700

My 338 deal fell through. So I ordered a 375 Ruger 77 today.
I all so looked at scopes & I think I'm going with a Nikon Monarch 3 2.5x10x42 on the 375.

Leupold all day long. will last forever. I have 40 year old ones that are used heavy and no issues. Go VX-3. you will not be sorry. Did I mention a life time warranted, that they stand behind? I tried to reset my elevation turret on a 40 power comp scope and broke it. I called the service desk with 10 days to this years IBS 1000 yds. Nationals. They got it back to me in 7 days total. Did I say free? yes.

I would go with Sightron Big Sky models. They have plenty of vertical and horizontal adjustment. One of my buds bought a Vortex and in order to get the scope to clear the barrel had to use high rings. The scope only had 42 moa of adjustment & it didn't have enough adjustment to get on paper.

"I tried to reset my elevation turret on a 40 power comp scope and broke it." I took the turret apart and over tightened it trying to reset and broke it. It was not a Leupold issue. I screwed it up. But the point is they saved my butt..... ;D

I like Burris scopes, Sightron, luepolds, Nikon has pretty good glass to look through... Find one that fits the application, Bushnell makes okay optics if you stick to the Trophy or higher lines..

Might want to consider a Weaver Super Slam scope. Very nice optics in them and the windage/elevation adjustments track very well. Have three of them.
