Leupold VX R 3x9 50mm

Realizing this is probably not the appropriate place to post my hunting scope questions, I trust that y'all know way more about this than anyone I've been able to talk to.
I am considering buying a Leupold VX R 3x9 with FireDot illumination. Can anyone tell me how big the 'dot' will be at 100 yards? Does the dot increase/decrease in size when you adjust the magnification? I am looking for an illuminated scope in the $600 range with a 1/2" dot at 100 yards. Can you make suggestions other than the Leupold?

Would think Leupold could easily answer those questions. Never really saw anything very technical from them for the consumer but surely that information is available . A user could take one to the range and measure things reasonably close. If it's in the second focal plane it will decrease in size as power goes up.

the dot is small, but you can make it larger with illumination....variable to suit your needs. It's a great scope.
