Leupold STD bases - frequent removing

maybe someone had the experience with this - is it a mistake to frequently remove the scope with rings from Leupold STD mono base? I want to be able to put another (bigger) scope on my rifle also, depending on its usage, but for the base I'm kinda stuck right now, cant replace it because it has to be altered to fit my action properly. Down the road I will replace the base with some weaver or similar rail, but for now my concern is that I will mess up the STD base and its holding if I remove it and place in another set of rings (sighting the scope in isnt the issue here).

Try using the dual dovetail mount system. Unless you had another custom hole drilled in your rear STD base, the DD rear base should be fine and your front STD base is the DD style already.
