Leupold scope question

I have a Leupold VX•R 3-9x40.
The rear eye piece has + 0 -
It also has a power adjustment from 3-9.
My question is about the rear eye piece. If I turn this does this change my poi?
I’ve looked for information on this scope and have the manual but can’t seem to find out what this does and if I change will it change poi?
All my other scopes I just focus the rear eye piece and set it.
Thanks

Thanks guys. That’s what I thought. My buddy said it was fast focus and he was twisting it. Then my poi was off and with the ammo shortage 308 I don’t have the extra to do a test. Thanks again!

Your poi could change as the reticle focus changes. If the diopter is adjusted out of focus far enough you could see a split or double reticle, or as the target distance increases your eye may focus the reticle and then transition to the target causing a perceived slight movement. Make sure when you focus the reticle using the diopter that you do not stare through the scope as you move the eyepiece in or out. You need to look away as you make adjustments or your eye will do some of the focusing. Light sky or a light ceiling corner in a room will allow for a sharp focus of the reticle.

Always remember, friends don't let friends monkey with their scope.
