leupold rx-1000 tbr rangefinders

Need some real world info on these rangefinders, on say a deer sized target what has been max yardage it would range? Have to replace my old bushnell and looking at this unit.

I think mine will read trees/hillside to about 850yds, houses 1020yds. Not really sure about a deer itself. My biggest complaint is that the red display is very hard to see in bright sunlight. Glass is 10x clearer and brighter than my old Nikon Monarch 800.
