Leupold problems

I have used the scope for years, never had a problem! Mounted it and at 100 yards the elevation is fine but the windage has to be all the way down to be on target ! I mean buried!! I using tally rings so there is no way to adjust left or right with the bases. The only thing I can think of is the other day this rifle and scope accidentally fell over and hit the floor!! I know my bad!! Should this go back to Leupold ? Or am I missing something?

I'd guess your receiver holes are not square. I have a remington 40x that is way off and had to use burris signature rings with + and - inserts to get it squared up. Windage adjustable rings are also a solution.

I have 2 Remington's that are off. One is a 40X and its WAY off! Try another scope first, like RLb said its probably the gun.

I don't think it's the rifle. This same scope has been on this rifle and another without moving the bases and it's always shot very well and center!!!

Oh okay. I assumed you moved it to a different rifle. That's a tough one. Getting knocked over May have hurt the scope.

Get you some rugged bases and mounts. I seen one fly out of a jeep, replaced the mounts, and went back to shooting. Scopes are durable, even if they had road rash...

If you can spare the scope for 2-3 weeks I would send it back to Leupold for diagnostics. I don't think they charge for it. I have been putting Leupolds through hell elk hunting with them for 30+ years here in Colorado and they do just fine. I have no experience with Talleys so I can't comment on them.

It strikes me that you really have one decision to make. And that is you must determine which has the problem...the rings or the scope. I look at it this way. How long has the scope been used and when is the last time it was cleaned and checked internally? I've sent scopes back for that very purpose when the scope showed signs of having a problem (ie. knobs becoming difficult to turn, particles appearing the reticle, etc). I know zip about Talley rings, but whens the last time you had rings suddenly go south, EXCEPT when subjected to hard impact, regardless who did what. Personally, I'd want to know my scope is working fine and has no issues. I can buy new rings anytime...scopes are another story.

Send the scope back to Leupold. While Talley rings are not the best, I'd say that tumble damaged the scope. Lap those rings if you haven't done that yet. Just lapped a set of Talley rings and they were horribly out of alignment!

I also have a 40X with a rear base mount hole off center. Had to use the + & - 10 inserts installed 90 degrees from normal to get enough windage adjustment of my 30 MM scope tube. However, I have experienced three Leupolds with failed reticles over the past twenty years. All three went back to Leupold. Their customer service is outstanding. Very quick turnaround and provided me with upgraded models.
