Yeah, I'm PO'd too; bought one 2 yrs ago at the higher price. Reason is Leupold has discontinued this model, so dealers are clearing their inventory. Still, it is a very good scope at the money.

I've also recently bought one of the discontinued VX111 models, 4.5-14x) from the 'Optic Zone', and as usual am very satisfied with it. Have no problem with buying an 'older', now discontinued,of anything). My logic is that since it's an older model that's been around a while, it will/should have the bugs worked out of it, and an established history of reliability, in contrast to the 'new' model that has not been proven. And we all know that some manufacturers use the buying public as a 'test-bed' for their newly released products. Just my opinion.
