Leupold or Weaver

Im not sure on what to buy. Im looking at a Leupold Comp x35 or a Weaver T series x36. I was after silver thats why im looking at the Weaver. And value for money its very hard to beat I think. One will be going on a Anschutz BR50 22 and the other will be going on a Savage F-Class 6mmbr. Should i put a fixed power on a F-Class rifle Im only shooting it out to 300yds and, I know there should be no problems with a fixed power on my Anschutz BR50 22. But what are you thoughts anyway?

Weaver T style has a good rep, Leupold no hassle guarantee and quick turn around is hard to beat. One vote for Leupold.

Another vote for Leupold. Do not have a Comp 35x, but do have two of the older 36x benchrest. Bought a new Weaver T-36 about 10 years ago. First time I looked thru it, on a sunny, bright July afternoon, I said, "who turned off the sun?". Eye/head placement very critical or the scope will black out. None of those problems with the Leupolds. Sold the T-36x, but do have three Weaver T-24x, and am very happy with them. Good scopes for their cost if you can accept the problems you may have-- maybe it was just me.

I'm using a Weaver T-36 on my F-class gun and I love it. Nice and clear and bright too. Mine is less than 1 year old, so I can't vouch for what Shuster said about the older T-36's he had. Very positive clicks and repeatable settings. Plenty of elevation and windage adjustment (60"W/60"E). I use the 1/8 MOA Fine Crosshair Dot reticle and find it just right for the F-class targets from 200-1000 yards. I'm satisfied it is one of the best scopes for the money.

That's good news. Maybe the newer ones are better than the one I bought new in 1999. And if I were in the market for a fixed power 36, and i could look thru it before buying, maybe I'd consider it.

So value for money you cant really go wrong with a weaver than can you. Does anyone ave a problem with the AO at the front of the scope not on the side like leupold do. Also 36x is plenty you think all my rimfire shooting is at 50m and all my centrefire shooting is btw 100 and 300m.

I have two Weaver 36's; never had a problem with either, but my Leupold LCS 40X has been returned for repair once.

Matches are still being won using T-36's- both old and newer models.......But will Weaver come through for you should the scope need service when you need it most. Weaver ownership has changed hands umpteen times, and recent threads claim difficulty getting warranty/ repair work done. Last reports stated the repair facility was being moved.
FWIW ....Jackie Schmidt who posts over on BRC, has taken several brands of competition scopes apart in an attempt to get them to hold POA, and if memory serves me.....his opinion was the T-36's design was more vulnerable to parts loosening up internally, and some parts were not serviceable.

Both above mentioned brands are good scopes, but one very good scope has been left out.Sightron makes a 36X SII that for my money is as good or better than anything out there.I have two and one is very old (got in a trade) it is clear bright and tracks very good.So well infact I bought a second one from Midway when they put them on sale.I've read reveiws on several sights that put them in the same class as leupold and weaver and some say they are a better value for your money.Just my two cents, good luck with your search.
