i am just getting into centerfire prs matches. ive shot 4 matches now and i have been running the bushnell match pro ed and i like the scope im just looking for something with alittle better glass to spot shots better at distance. i was looking at the leupold mk line and was looking at the mk4 in 8-32x56 or the the mk5 in 5-25. i currently have a spuhr 34mm scope mount so thats another thing with the mk5 i would have to get new scope mount as well. just curious to hear from people with both is the mk5 really worth the 600 dollar price difference. thanks in advance

After spending some time with both at Cameraland I went with the mk4 6x24x52. Couldn't see any appreciable difference to justify spending the extra $$$...plus like you said extra cash for a 35mm mount.

did you look thru a mk4 8-32x56?
No, I didn't. This was for my rimfire prs rig, more interested in the turret travel, which is quite a bit more in the 6x24 versus the 8x32. My centerfire wears a Burris XTR Pro, which I like better than either of the Leupold's. Europtic has a dynamite closeout right now on the 5.5x30x56 XTR Pro, I'd take a good look...illumination, the extra race dial, great eyebox and price better than either of the Leupold's. If I would have seen it before picking up the MK4 I'd have picked it up instead.

I have a Spuhr SP5002 mount for sale if you need one.

I nickel and dimed my way up to the mark 5. I have 3 now. They knock it out at the price point. I don’t think there’s a better scope for the money. My opinion would be spend the extra $$. You won’t regret it.

Ya I actually went with the leupold mk5 5-25. And put it in the new area 419 mount

I have the Mark 4HD 4.5-18 on a 6mmAI and can say its one of the clearest scopes I've looked thru. The only thing I don't like is it is HEAVY. Weighing in at 27 oz. Aside from the weight, I love the scope and prefer it over my vortex sightron and NF scopes. However, since Leupold has shut down the custom shop and stopped making their line of competition scopes they have forced me to move to NightForce scopes.
