Leupold Customer service

There is a lot to be said about the customer service at Leupold! I called them last Monday and told them I was shooting benchrest competition and had a scope that went bad. I was given a name to send it to his attention and he would get it back soon. I figured several weeks at best. they received the scope on Wednesday this week and I got it back on Friday this week! If other business people would take note of the customer service I am sure consumers would also buy from them with no hesitation!

And it's also been my experience that they will pay return shipping charges, unlike some other companies I have had dealings with. Just one of the many reasons I do not hesitate to buy used Leupold (and Nightforce) scopes.

Leupold and NightForce BOTH have EXCELLENT customer service>>>second to none! There is ONLY one "problem" I have experienced with Leupolds>>>They are fragile! You need their customer service. Now once they "fix" whatever is broken, it almost never breaks again! Why will they not do that in the first place so you WON"T NEED their repair shop, whereas you almost NEVER need them for NightForce! That's why I don't buy a Leupold.. GREAT glass, repeatable, consistent turret / reticule adjustments, excellent and large M.O.A. adjustments in the scope>>>they just seem to break A LOT!! Just M.H.O.

I've had ~ 30-40 Leupolds in my 45 yrs in the field and on the range, and the only time I sent one of my Leupold's back was to change to a different reticle, and my comp guns burn hundreds of rounds each year, and my hunting rigs get dragged through scrub-oak brush and swamps. I did however, send a 3x9 Vari-X I back for repair for a friend once. Not so much luck with a Burris 6x Hunter Class scope, or an '80's 6-18 Redfield.

I have 2 "older" Leupolds a 3.5 x 10 and a 4.5 x 14.. These scopes have NEVER needed repair and the 4.5 x 14 is on my 300 RUM! But the "newer" ones I have had, have not lived up to the "old" Leupold name, in MY experience. I went exclusively to NightForce and have not ever looked back. But that is NOT TO SAY Leupold's are not great scopes, they are! I have had some real bad experience with them, I do not want to paint with a wide swath, but there is a reason why you hardly ever see Leupolds on the firing line in F-Class Competition.. I wish I could say otherwise, but I would be less than truthful..

And yet Leupold still dominates Short-Range Registered Match Competition. Others have made inroads, but cost and weight have been compelling factors.

One of the reasons they are not seen very often at the longer distance match's is simply that they have never offered a high magnification variable with 1/8 moa clicks. Nightforce, Sightron & others have seen to meet the needs of the longer distance competitors. As good as the 8.5-25x 50mm is, it's still limited at 600 yards and beyond.

Shot a match at 500 meters yesterday, with the 6BR, no mirage, and was able to spot all my shot holes with my Nightforce 15-55x at 55x. Could not have done that with my Leupold 8.5-25x. Did not need my 82mm Nikon spotting scope, but with the Leupold at 25x, it would have been a requirement.

With Leupolds new 7-42x and hopefully other offerings as well they will be competing now for that share of the market. Glad to see them finally giving the shooters what they want.

LH, it is my understanding that Leupold is making a valiant effort to break into F-Class competition. They have a prototype of a 7X - 42X 34 (35)MM tube scope designed expressly for F-Class shooting. I REALLY hope that it comes to fruition and is everything I hope it should be. I want to see them do well! If I were to make that scope "F-Class Specific" I would have 2-3 varying reticules with FINE crosshairs and or small, read that TINY dots, LOTS of elevation and windage built in the turrets with at least 10m.o.a. revolutions and better yet, 20m.o.a. revolutions. Make it EXACT in tracking and make it almost UNbreakable! If they did that, I would be their first customer! Leupold has few peers in their glass, and I for one, LOVE GOOD GLASS!!!
