Leupold coin slot turrets

I have an older Leupold VX-ii 4-12×50 AO that I am putting on my wife's gun for her to start practicing with. It has the coin slot adjustable turrets. I am wanting to get finger adjustable turrets put on it so she can practice dialing for the elevation. I called leupold custom shop and they said they could only do the elevation turret and quoted me $250 to do it. So I started looking into other options. I have found stoney point target knobs which are no longer made and Kenton Industries that make a screw on unit for them. Has anyone ever had any experience with either unit from stone point or Kenton Industries? Is so what is your experience with them? Also has anyone sent one of these scopes in to the Leupold custom shop to have this done and what did they charge?

I have sent in several straight 12X and had target turrets installed. I paid about 65.00 per turret. Are you sure they didn't say 150.00?

The last one I had modified was in 2013. The elevation turret was $95.00 + shipping to Leupold.

I lost a turret cap recently on a mid 90's Leupold, and was snooping around the internet for replacement sources. Came across some Loopy S1/S2 screw on turrets that supposedly just screw onto the current loopy. Available only from factory IIRC.

This, they used to install M1 turret knobs for 65 each and return shipping. They would also install M5(mil) knobs on the mix-matched scopes, I think it was a little higher though.
I'm sure cost of the service has risen, but I doubt doubled.

I called Leupold first and they quoted 250 on the phone. I didn't think that could be right so I then emailed them and got the same answer. I'll post a copy of the email response.
Thank you jpx2rk. I looked into the Leupold screw on dials. There isn't much info on them anywhere online and leupold never mentioned them on the phone or in the email. I found an article online about them but couldn't find anyone that sold them. So I called leupold and asked them. They still make them and they are called the S1 and S5 dials. They are screw on turrets very similar to Kenton industries. The S1 is MOA and the S5 is Mil. They make them for elevation and windage. And the best part is they are only $75 each which is cheaper than Kenton and they mail them to you so you don't even have to send your scope in. The only place you can get them is by calling the custom shop and ordering them. I can't believe they don't have these on their website or advertise them or even have distributors selling them. I can take pics of them and how they go on when I get them if anyone is interested. Thank you everyone for the help on figuring this out. Sounds like the custom shop prices have went up a lot recently.

Dale,
We can install target dials on that scope. You would need to send it in to have this work performed. The cost would be $150 plus tax for just the elevation or $225 plus tax for elevation and windage.

Sorry. They quoted me $230 not $250. Here is the email. In the email It sounds like he is talking specifically about the CDS system but I asked about any adjustable turret. So maybe the target turrets or M1 turrets are cheaper. I just assumed it would be the same price since they didn't mention any other prices on the phone or email.

Your VX-II can have the Custom dial system installed with a ballistically matched dial to your load data elevation only. Cost would be 230.00 plus any applicable taxes.



If you choose to have the work done, box the scope up including a note stating the work to be done along with your contact/shipping information. Once received we will call you to confirm the work and to collect payment via debit/credit . You will find our return address below. Turn time currently is approximately 6-8 weeks.
