Leupold click

I saw a scope yesterday at the range that a guy was trying to zero at 100 yards on his deer rifle. He said he was having trouble zeroing. Nice scope Leupold not sure of the model. He said the scope would not click when making adjustments. Do they make a scope that does not click?

all the original VXII`s and the straight 4x and 6x were friction adjust,,each line on the dial is 1/2 MOA but you can adjust it to wherever you want it,,I think they are 12 MOA per full turn

IDK when they changed the VXII to click adjustments,,then there is the VXI and Rifleman scopes IDK if they are clix or not,,

some Leupolds didnt have clix but I dont know if they still make a friction adjust scope now or when they quit,,but they did make them like that for a long time,,

if he had the scope for a while he should know if it had clix and stopped and if thats the case it will need a trip back for repairs,

I agree. He just bought the scope used. I was just thinking it may have had a internal issue since he was having problems sighting it in and it did not click. I was not aware that they made a scope that didn't click. Thanks for the info.

Are the turrets installed properly? If you do not have them on right they are just spinning and not adjusting anything. The turret has a spine or groves it fits in when you put it on.

Be easy enough to check...put it in a secure rest, sight through the scope without touching the rifle and start twisting the dials. If the reticle moves and the knobs don't click I would assume it is a friction adjust. Leupold made quite a few of them over the years but not sure they still make them any more.

Not getting it to zero might mean nothing. I've had guys that couldn't hit paper at 50 yards and within two shots I've had them sighted in at 100.

It would help to know which model. If it has target knobs maybe the screws to hold the knows on are loose. You loosen them to set zero and then retighten. Matt

Leupold needs to make a move out of NightForce's playbook and do away with the three tiny azzed screws that must be adjusted to set their scopes to zero and put the damn '0' where one screw is placed!!

I have a VXII 3-9x40 that I bought in 1980. It has the friction adjustments. Don't ever use the scope any more. Have considered sending it back to Leupold for different turrets but don't really think about it. I was never a fan of the friction adjustments. It has great glass and the longest distance I shot a deer at was 314 yds. It and the rifle it sits on just don't get used much. It was easy to sight in but making adjustments I want to hear or feel a click.
