Leupold 4-12x40 VXR 30mm

I’ve been looking at a rifle at a local shop lately that had this scope on top. I checked on EBay and they ask big money for these. It is an illuminated model but it wouldn’t light up. Salesman said low battery probably. They are asking a lot for the rifle/combo but if it’s a good scope it’s probably worth it. I would check it out with a new battery.

Anyone had experience with these scopes and is the illumination a durable feature. I don’t think they are asking a premium for the combo, probably the same as a 4-12x40 with ao would be. Just trying to get some info from some users.
