Leupold 3-9 EFR upgrade?

Hi,
I have a VX-II 3-9 EFR that I have had for 10 or 12 years that is pleasant to look through, but just doesn’t keep up with my most of my other scopes resolving detail. Is the VX-Freedom a significant upgrade in image quality? Is there another parallax adjustable scope recommendation that I should consider to suit a lightweight 22? The Meopta Optika 5 has my attention, but that’s a lot of weight to add to this rifle.
Thanks,
Ed

Is the issue the clarity of the scope or the magnification?
It’s the clarity. The colors are nice, and it doesn’t strain my eyes, but it just doesn’t pop the details. I can see 22 bullet holes at 50 yards with it about as easily as I can see them at 100 with better scopes at 9x. I wouldn’t mind a little more top end magnification, but it’s not needed. I want to keep this rifle light because it’s so handy and it will be good to teach my girls with when they get a little older.

Assuming you've adjusted the objective to get the clearest image, I'd ask Leupold to check the scope.

I would send in to Leupold. I have the your exact scope and also the vx-freedom in the same setup. Both are equal. Both are very clear. Lots of shooting buddies also have this scope on 22's and they all love them.

Thanks for the suggestions. I may end up sending it in, or just trading it. I am somewhat doubting that Leupold will say it’s off, because everyone else that uses it likes it; maybe it’s just me.

I think maybe I’ll swap my 3-9x36 AO Sightron Big Sky onto this 22 instead of a Howa Mini. It’s a bit chunkier than the Leupold, but so is pretty much everything else, and I like it a lot.
