Leupold 12X ?

It'll work, but there's much better. Prairie dogs can be at any distance from one shot to the next. When scanning for the next target, 12X is too much and hasn't enough field of view. And when you've found a target, it's not enough power. Compared to a variable, fixed power scopes are just a poor choice for varmints and especially prairie dogs.

Didn't know anyone trusted them new-fangled variable power scopes yet.

Understand some folks are testing the adaptor kit for the B&L Balvar that adds 2X to their fixed power 4X.

Hammer - they are excellent. ONLY item you need...ONE Stoney Point tactical knob conversion. That makes the FX series from Leupold perfect.

That is a good price on that other site.

I shot with one for a year. I personally like higher power. I tend to stretch my shots out to 500 or so and 12X isn't enough. It is a clear optic.
