Let's talk picatinny rings

I have always had great success with Ken Farrell, Kelbly and Nighforce aluminum picatinny scope rings. I have noticed that some manufacturers make rings from 6061-T6 aluminum vs the harder 7075-T6.

Would the softer 6061 hinder the gripping ability on the scope tube vs the 7075?

I could see that on a light, heavy recoiling rifle chambered in a powerful magnum centerfire cartridge it might make a difference, but what about a 17 lb bench rifle chambered in 6BR?

the softer alum would likely actually grip better
I know when I want something to grip I use copper or lead
Or Burris Z Rings with the plastic inserts grip just fine
the problem with 6061 is the threads will strip out almost instantly if you go past the torque limitations

in my opinion, 6061 is a cheap out move, where Mfgr's pay 30% the cost of 7075 but charge you the same amount as if they used 7075 since you cant tell the difference

I love American Rifle Company - ARC

I have a handful of sets. I dont see me buying anything different as they just simply work for me. Great customer service too. Lifetime warranty. I recently had to warranty a set. Sent em a picture, he had a new set in the mail the next day to me. Couldnt be happier.
